Hi everyone! This post is going to be focused on my Top 10 Hair Products & Tools to keep in the shower!Make sure you also check out Curls Understood website which I will post at the end of this post

10: Scissors

Everyone hates the sight of scissors when it comes to cutting hair, especially us curlies. Sometimes when we detangle our hair, we come across knots or the worst split ends. These can be caused by a number of factors from pulling to hard on your hair to applying far too much heat.Split ends are a no no if you want to have healthy hair and improved hair growth, and knots make it difficult for us to brush our hair even more.By snipping them off and finding out to see what in your routine could be contributing to this will gradually reduce.See?Scissors aren't so bad after all

9: Jamaican Black Castor Oil

I put this one after the scissors because I wanted to link them.Jamaican Black Castor are known for a lot of benefits like:
  • Hair Growth
  • Reduced Itchy Scalp
  • Thickens Hair
  • Detangles Hair
  • Moisturises Hair
  • Softens Hair
  • Reduced damage
There are many more benefits this oil claims to do but I confirm that this oil lives up to the hype.I was mainly focused on improving my hair growth due to snipping ends off my hair. This oil can be applied to dry/wet hair and also can be applied morning/night so it varies from person to person on how they wish to apply it.The routine which I found works for me and has great results:
  • Apply the oil to wet hair, making sure to get the ends and the roots
  • Massage into the scalp making sure the hair is drenched in the oil
  • Using a silk shower cap, I wrap my hair up so none will drip on the pillow
  • Following morning I wash out with my shampoo, and style as normal

I do this 4 days a week instead of 7, only because I have reached my hair length goal and don't really feel the need to improve any more growth for now. One thing I would like to point out though which some people have complained of is the smell. The best way I can describe it is that it smells like a musky ash tray smell, but it doesn't linger in the hair which isn't to bad.

8. Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Constructor

I'm sure a lot of you have or have heard of this product, if not your going to thank me for it.This has to be one of the best deep conditioners I have come across not only for the results but for the price and the scent of it too.Deep conditioning is a huge factor of achieving healthy and moisterised hair.3 minutes is all it takes to have this in your hair to then wash it out, but I love to have it in longer for the scent (I know daft). It is also known it can be used as a Leave in Conditioner, but for me personally that method did not work for me.The scent is bubblegum and is not too overpowering at all.

7.The Wet Brush

Hands up if your current brush/comb snags in your hair? Also hands up if you end up ripping your hair out because of your brush/comb?Two huge signs that you need to ditch it asap because they are not doing your hair any good. The Wet Brush however is a gift from the gods and it certainly does live up to the hype!I've owned this brush since last year and I haven't touched another brush, comb, tangle teezer since. Now for you that may be wondering does it only work on wet hair because of the title, nooope, it also works on dry hair.I use this brush on wet hair to detangle and to also stretch my curls. There is no pulling, snagging, pain and definitely no tears either. unless tears of happiness. The flexible bristles help the hair glide through and it achieve hair being brushed without any pain.I got a bit too trigger happy and sent a photo of the results the company which ended up on there social network sites!I recommend getting one and showing the world your new brushed, pain free hair!

6. L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil Conditioner (Dry To Very Dry Hair)

I got a bit trigger happy (again) when I heard L'Oreal were releasing an oil based conditioner, because my hair thrives off it. I've owned this since august last year and have had to stock up on this as people are going absolutely nuts over it.This one in particular is directed for dry to very dry hair, and curls sometimes need that extra nourishment to be able to achieve full bouncing curls. The conditioner itself is very pretty, giving off a glimmering glitter look to it and the scent is beautiful. It contains 6 micro flower oils which I believe gives the hair that soft, shiny and moisterised feeling and look to it.I wouldn't recommend leaving this product longer than 10 minutes, due to the product starting to dry in the hair which can cause it to become matted, but other than that, a great product to keep in the shower.

5. L'Oreal Elvive Full Restore Mask

Another fantastic product by L'Oreal and I was lucky enough to get this as a gift.First time using this I was pretty impressed and I've stuck with this hair mask ever since.I use this at least twice a week to give my hair that extra moisture and to also make my hair all nice and soft. This does contain Keratin but I've found because of the serum provided in this mask it does not dry out my hair like other Keratin products have so I highly recommend this if you fall into that category, other than that great little mask all around.

4.Garnier Ultimate Blends Coconut Oil

I've bee a huge fan of Garnier for a while and I was intrigued when they released a coconut oil line. There shampoo and conditioner had greats results so I decided to try there "Sleek Perfector Oil".I've been through a lot of coconut oils, even when its still a block, but none of them moisterised my hair as good as this one.It can also be used as a heat protectant, but I wouldn't recommend any types of oils for this and only use it for after styling or in hot weather as it combats frizz very well, so if you hair is prone to frizz, this little beauty is for you.As a tip too, you can send off for a free sample from Garnier and you get quite a bit which isn't too bad!

My Top 3 Products!

Left to right: Cantu Curl Activator, Tresemme Deep Cleansing Shampoo and Herbal Essences Silk n Shine Conditioner

3.Tresemme Deep Cleansing Shampoo

This has to be my favorite shampoo that I have ever owned and the fact it does the job really well, I couldn't be happier. This shampoo deep cleanses the scalp from dirt to build up, without stripping your hair. There is a sign of a cooling feeling across your scalp when massaging this in your hair which feels as if its removing all the build up and when washing it out, your left with soft curls, no stripped dry hair feeling what so ever.

Price: £2.49+ Boots and Superdrug

2. Herbal Essences Silk n Shine Conditioner

I've only had this conditioner for a week, and I couldn't resist picking it up when they had it on sale. What attracted me the most to this conditioner is that it contains Rose Hips, Jojoba Extracts and Vitamin E.First time using it alongside with the Tresemme shampoo, I had great results! My hair was soft, shiny, tangle free and the smell was beautiful. What topped it off was the amount of compliments I received especially on the shine of my hair.

.

I then decided to do a little experiment with it to see if I could use it as a Leave in conditioner:
I got a 50p size of the conditioner and put it in this container. I then put lukewarm water as shown in the image and shook the bottle. After it turns to a cloudy liquid, I sprayed it evenly across my hair and left my hair as that. My hair was still shiny, soft and tangle free, and it makes it so much easier if your in a hurry, you can just spray this onto your hair.

1. Cantu Curl Activator

My number one hair product to not only have in the shower, but can also be useful  to have in your bag. This bottle of heaven doesn't only make your curls pop, it also moisterises them. There are no sulfates, silicones, parabens or mineral oil which is perfect for those who maybe a bit ingredient conscious. The cream is quite thick, but I've noticed it sinks in the hair quicker using a oil based product before it or just including this in the LOC method. No buildup is caused either so if your curls need a boost during the day, this will have no problem handling it. I used this product with just water, but I've noticed it doesn't tackle the frizz as well without having the oil as a base first.

My hair at 10pm after 13hours of this cream in!
