Mixed Roots Curl Control Lotion & Deep Moisture Conditioner

Winter season is finally here, with freezing cold temperatures and heavy wind which means extra frizz and dry hair for some of us.This month I decided to try out something new for my hair, and having a look around, I came across Mixed Roots.Mixed Roots specialise in hair products for fine waves, thick kinks, or a mixed curly texture (like my own) to cleanse, condition and care for your hair. The ingredients are natural as possible, including vitamin fruit oils and protein, and not having baddies like parabens, sulfates and mineral oil.Now before you worry if you suffer from having too much protein in your hair, these two products do not try your hair out what so ever, and actually had a lot of positives.

Curl Control Leave-In Lotion

  • Defines & Locks In Curl
  • Protects Hair From Frizz
  • No Parabens
  • No Mineral Oil
Firstly I'd like to say how amazing this leave in smells, it makes you want to eat it!The scent lasts in the hair for the whole day, but isn't too overpowering at all, you'll just might end up sniffing your hair now and then when your out and about, no biggie, its normal right?.The texture of the product is that it pumps out as a cream, but once you rub it between your hands and apply it to the hair, it turns into a light oil, which for my hair worked great in soaking it up and doing its job.My hair wasn't left greasy by this, despite applying a 50p size amount to my hair, instead it left my hair shiny, defined, frizz free and smelling amazing.
The next test was to see how long my hair could stay defined on that day and also how many days it would stay moisturised without having to apply water which I do on a daily basis to keep my hair in good condition.Over the next couple of days,I would apply a small amount of this lotion to the parts of my hair that needed that extra definition (my 3c curls). My hair lasted a total of 5days, as on the last day my hair started to shrink a little and my curls weren't as defined.I'm very happy with the results so far and this lotion will be a hair staple for this winter.

Deep Moisture Conditioner

  • Strengthens hair
  • Restores Moisture
  • No Parabens
  • No Mineral Oil
You know that I obsess over deep conditioners, so having one that is specifically designed to restore moisture and containing no baddies, I was really excited. This too smells absolutely amazing, and smells a lot stronger than the leave in lotion, however again its not too overpowering, leaving your hair smelling gorgeous. As its a deep conditioner, it is very very thick and this is the sized amount I needed for my crazy hair as too much I found out would leave my hair quite greasy after washing it out, so sized amount will vary.
This feels amazing on the hair, especially when you have a silk cap on for extra hair penetration, and also gives you this cooling feeling across the scalp that is quite relaxing. After washing it out my hair felt incredibly soft and moisturised. My hair stayed moisturised for a very long time while having my hair styled up in a bun, and didn't begin to lose moisture until the third day after from applying this.Applying the curl lotion can extend the moisture and also giving your curls more definition. so these two work great together.

Summary

Mixed Roots have definitely taken a lot of time and effort in creating these products, which I have to applaud and thank for, as not many brands (including celebrity) do not achieve such positive results like this. Providing great curl definition, shine and moisture that lasts for days, these two products work very well together, leaving me confident in purchasing other products from their range in the near future.I recommend this for hair that is dry, damaged, lack of shine and lack of curl definition, to show your hair's full potential and also leaving you feeling very happy, as a good hair day plays a big part in our mood!I hope you've enjoyed reading this review and cannot wait to try more from this range very soon :)
